Billing’s Half Moon – a 1:40 scale kit – {part 12}

July 2, 2013

Getting back to the build,  I did the planking on the port side.   Now that both sides are equal,  the bottom hull planking can begin.   I did a bit more sanding,  taking out a few more imperfections.   I’m glad to see that it’s still a green light for this build being single planked.   The bottom,  below the waterline,  is to be painted a dark color…….I will most likely use the dark drab.

In past pictures,  the construction of the hull frame showed all the contours of the hull,  but one.   Down at the chines,  the ribs show an edge.   Left looking like this,  the bottom of the hull would show a visible edge.   This would be unbecoming to the total contour of the hull.   This must be removed if the hull contour is to flow smoothly to the keel.   I made the correction at this time.

Looks much better now……..the planking continues.
